Laredo Personal Injury Attorney Roderick C. Lopez

Roderick C. Lopez has been practicing law for over 20 years as a personal injury lawyer in Laredo. He is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station. Immediately after graduation, Mr. Lopez began working for Farmers Insurance Company as a claims adjuster handling auto, property, and commercial liability claims. During this time, he handled hundreds of claims and gained valuable claims-handling experience.

After three years of working for an insurance company, Mr. Lopez decided to pursue his law degree. He attended Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where he graduated with honors and with the distinction of being named to the Dean’s List every semester. Thereafter, he began practicing in Houston, Texas, for two large firms with offices throughout the State of Texas.

Mr. Lopez is licensed to practice law in all Texas State Courts, the United States District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas, and has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is also a certified mediator.

Mr. Lopez is also a former Assistant District Attorney for Webb County. During his time at the Webb County District Attorney’s office, Mr. Lopez gained valuable trial experience presenting numerous cases to juries and handling numerous appeals on behalf of the State of Texas.

“Unfortunately, many lawyers lack trial experience, which is crucial in representing clients,” Lopez explains. “The best deals are made on the courthouse steps; you have to fight for your client and that means going the extra step by filing a lawsuit or a motion to challenge the government’s evidence. This makes the other side think twice about their case, resulting in a better outcome for the client.”

Mr. Lopez has been in private practice in Laredo since January 2010. His focus has become civil litigation involving all types of disputes with insurance companies. His prior experience as an adjuster has led to the efficient resolution of personal injury claims and higher settlements for his clients.

Mr. Lopez constructed a new law office located at 6557 Metro Court. The office was completed in November of 2018 and provides over 3,000 square feet of office space. This new building demonstrates a commitment to continue practicing law in Laredo and Webb County for many years to come. Mr. Lopez intends to add to this office complex by adding an additional 5,000 square feet to the existing land. The new addition will provide additional offices, conference room areas, and a storage facility for vehicles, which may serve as evidence in product liability litigation. This demonstrates a commitment to future growth.

Mr. Lopez has served the Laredo civic community as a board member for Volunteers Serving the Need, an organization that assists local veterans. Mr. Lopez also served as an elder at Grace Bible Church for numerous years. Mr. Lopez also was a volunteer leader with Boy Scout Troop 202. He has been married for 29 years to his wife, Becky, and together, they have three beautiful children: Christopher, Kathryn, and Matthew.
